Get to Know Me

Hi,

I'm Riley, the blogger behind The E in ESG, welcome!

Growing up I always cared strongly about animals and the environment. I thought I wanted to be a vet, but it turns out that now I am a Litigation Lawyer in the City.

My legal studies and career have helped my love for animals and the environment to take on a new dimension - a focus on understanding  Environmental, Social and Governance ("ESG") laws and laws relating to the climate and biodiversity crises we are experiencing. My passion is understanding how to use the law to help tackle these pressing issues.

My blog previously focused only on biodiversity, but now that biodiversity has a natural home (no pun intended) in the "E" of ESG, it felt right to expand the blog's focus and consider issues relating to the climate as well; the climate and biodiversity crises being the flip side of the same kind, you can't discuss one without the other.

That's why I decided to create The E in ESG, to educate myself and others, so that we can all understand the legal developments and trends which are impacting the natural world both positively and negatively, and to help myself and others understand how we can help resolve these issues and provide mitigation opportunities to prevent catastrophic tipping points in the environment and to prevent animal cruelty.

So all that is left for me to say is: welcome to the herd!
